For this project, we were tasked with completely updating the basement level of a beautiful period home in South Dublin.
The brief was to create a stylish space that made sense with the floors above and met the diverse needs for the basement area.
We needed to create a fun, cosy den for the homeowners' children. There were multiple bespoke storage solutions that we needed to find. There had to be a stylish bathroom for guests to use and an entrance and stairs with some wow factor.
Custom furniture was key to this project. The mid-century inspired home office we created needed plenty of storage to house files and books attractively whilst the under stair storage needed to incorporate a desk area and even a spot for the family dog to sleep in!
For the den, we used dark colours on the walls and sofa to evoke the feel of a snug whilst the bright colours and patterns of the accessories gave it a sense of fun.
Beautiful marble metro tiles laid in a herringbone pattern and slick black walls updated the bathroom whilst statement encaustic tiles meant the entrance had the wow factor the home owner was looking for.
The sophisticated zigzag pattern on the stairs sequed perfectly into the rest of the house upstairs.
We used marmoleum flooring with a concrete look throughout the communal areas for a modern, low maintenance look.
